Yes! I heard Phil (and many others of his kind) saw his shadow this morning... six more weeks of winter it will be!

Thanks for sharing this with us, Ralph - nice shot!  :D

If winter ever gets here .. it has just been a long chilly fall now becoming a long chilly spring ..

I heard a joke yesterday .. the Groundhog came out and told me to prepare for "6 more weeks of winter !" .. so I ate him :mwahaha:

Well said - we really haven't had much of a real "New England Winter" up my way yet, either... but then again, I'm not much of a "winter sports guy", so I don't mind having less snow... ^^;

hahaha! That'll learn the little varmint!  Groundhog Day

Groundhog Day is celebrated on February 2nd in the U.S.  the tradition goes that the Groundhog emerges from his hole on this day every year If it is bright and sunny, he sees his shadow and is frightened back into his hole, signifying 6 more weeks of cold and a long winter, if it is overcast when he emerges he is not frightened and remains signifying a short winter and early spring.  As for this year it has seemed like Spring all winter so far .. this picture was taken November 23 2016

That's an interesting story and often these old wisdoms are true
Thanks for sharing Ralph....

In this case more superstition than anything else .. statistically the groundhog has proven to be no more accurate than flipping a coin :D (which is still more accurate than a lot of weathermen :hmm:)
